Mrs. Patricia Louise (Steorts) Casey was born on Mar. 10, 1931, in Clay County, WV, to the late Allie G. Murphy and the late Anon T. Steorts. Patricia went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at the age of 87 in Fort Myers, FL.
Patricia was the beloved wife and sweetheart of Clyde J. Casey for 65 years. She was affectionately known as “Babe” by her family.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Delbert (Deb), Brooks and Ward (Arnold); and sisters, Salena (Happy), Della, Golda, Lena (Punky), Magorie (Marge), Barbara (Rettie) and Roberta (Bertie).
Patricia is survived by her loving devoted husband, Clyde; daughters, Brenda L. Stewart (John), Patricia A. Casey (Allen) and Melody G. Grant (Charles); brother, Robert (Robbie); grandchildren, Charles J. Taylor (Jody), John Casey Stewart (Rachel), Charles E. Grant III aka Chaz, Marshall T. Grant, Garner L. Grant and Jonathan J. Grant; and great-grandchildren, Andrew H. Taylor, Margaret A. Taylor, John Zane Stewart and Stella C. Stewart; and many nieces and nephews.
Patricia was a member of First Baptist Church, Fort Myers, FL aka City Gate Ministries for 49 years. She attended Marshall University, Huntington and Morris Harvey College, Charleston, where she received her teaching degree. Prior to moving to Fort Myers with their three daughters in June of 1968, Clyde and Patricia were supervisors at the Union Mission Children’s Home in Kanawha City for three years. Patricia was a teacher at Little Friends Kindergarden, First Baptist Church for many years, followed by being a teacher’s aid at Orangewood Elementary, both in Fort Myers. After Clyde retired they enjoyed many summers and falls at their home in Whittier, NC on “Casey’s Mountain.” Growing up in West Virginia Patricia enjoyed many sports and outdoor activities. She had an active family with 11 siblings and enjoyed sewing and crafts. She was on the girls’ basketball team when she attended Marshall University.
Patricia was devoted to her Lord God, her husband and family, church and friends. She always had a smile on her face and kind words for all. She had a special interest in improving the lives of young people and made an impact on many.
Visitation for family and friends of Patricia will be held Friday, Aug. 24, from 5-7 p.m., at the City Gates Ministries (former First Baptist Church), 1735 Jackson St., Fort Myers, FL, in the choir room.
A Memorial Service will take place, officiated by Lt. Col. Robert Steorts, on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary of City Gates Ministries. Private internment will follow.

Patricia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, and friend with a gentle giving spirit. She taught us how to love, laugh and learn and was always there when we needed her for support or advice. She will be greatly missed!
