Natural aromas are everywhere with us, influencing our moods and health. New River Community and Technical College is offering a non-credit class that explores how essential oils can be an alternative option for common aches, pains and illnesses.
Essential Oils for Everyday Health will be offered at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Beckley Campus and on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Greenbrier Valley Campus in Lewisburg.
After learning about the many uses of essential oils and treatment options for many common ailments, instructor Stacy Raffo took classes and conducted her own research. Discovering that pure, therapeutic grade essential oils had many uses for first aid and enhancing wellness, she began teaching others.
Some of the more popular treatments covered in the class are known to relieve headaches, reduce stress, lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety, lessen the negative effect of seasonal allergies such as ragweed and pollen, and add balance to your life. Students will learn how to discern the quality and therapeutic effectiveness of the oils and the healing properties of the most widely used oils including lavender, lemon, tea tree, peppermint.
Tuition is $10 for each class and includes an essential oils magazine. Please call the New River Community and Technical College Office of Workforce Education in Summersville at 304-883-2446 for additional information or to register.
