Tuesday, May 8, is opening day for Alderson’s Community Market. Vendors with fresh local produce, music, and children’s activities will be featured from 4 to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Visitor Center on Riverview Avenue.
Some of the vendor offerings will be: Azimuth Organics with kale, radishes, baby beets, Asian greens and salad mixes; Sprouting Farms of Talcott with spring greens, and other early produce; Purple Mountain Phoenix Farm with eggs and chickens; Edie Frerotte’s geranium plant starts and homemade soap; Sunset Strawberry Farms with early strawberries; and Thomas Key with hand-crafted gifts. The Alderson Women’s Club will have a table at the market with information about their group’s activities. Music will be from singer/songwriter Chris “Sparky” Hopson of Hinton, originally from Logan County, with songs that range from rock n’ roll to South Texas Blues, along with his original compositions. Children are invited to create Mother’s Day cards with Fawn Valentine. Stop by the market and go home with good things to eat and a song in your heart.
