The Alderson Community Food Hub is excited to announce the new and relocated Alderson Community Garden now sited in Meadows Park, across the street from the Alderson Hospitality House, 203 High Street, Alderson.
The garden is open to all who are interested in having access to land where they can grow their own food in a communal atmosphere. Based on a WVU Extension Service model, the raised garden beds are of various heights and are therefore able to accommodate gardeners who want to kneel, squat, sit, or stand at their bed.
Each raised bed will cost $10 for the season, while members of the Alderson Community Food Hub will receive a bed for free. Membership costs $20 per year and also provides a free season-long vendor space at the Alderson Community Market.
Water and gardening tools will be available for use. Each gardener will be responsible for maintaining their own raised bed on a regular basis.
Everyone is welcome to join in on our work days to help build and improve the garden, beginning on Tuesday, Mar. 6 through Friday, Mar. 9, starting at 9:30 a.m.
Stay tuned for more details on when the raised beds will be open for registration. Follow the Alderson Community Food Hub on Facebook at facebook.com/aldersonfood
