Barbara Ann Bentzel Loudermilk

Clintonville – Barbara Ann Bentzel Loudermilk, 80, died Staurdya, Feb. 10, 2018, at home following a long illness.

Born Jan. 20, 1938, at Dawson, she was the daughter of the late Winters Harry and Ruby Hutsenpiller Bentzel. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dale Hartley, and sister, Marien Herring.

She was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church in Belle, WV, for 27 years. Upon moving back to Greenbrier County after retirement in 1996, Rhema Christian Center of Fairlea became her home church.

She was a 1954 graduate of Rupert High School. She received a BS degree from West Virginia Institute of Technology, with a major in Biology and a minor in English. She received a MA degree in Reading Education, grade 1-12, plus 36 graduate hours in Vocational Education from the West Virginia College of Graduate Studies. She taught school at Smoot Elementary and Smoot Junior High School for four years. She taught an additional 11 years at various elementary schools in Kanawha County in the areas of Reading Education and Elementary Basic Skills. Her final 18 years were spent at Carver Career Center, teaching Adult Education and Basic Reading/Job Seeking/Job Keeping skills, with a total of 33 years in the field of teaching.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Louis Hartley Loudermilk; daughters, Libby Marks of Clintonville and Lisa Moore of Malden; daughter-in-law, Debbie Loudermilk of Vienna; grandchildren, Matthew Marks, David Loudermilk, Ryan Moore, Lindsay Holbert (Trent), Erin Moore, Alycia Marks and Kathryn Marks; great-grandson, Tyler Kessel; sister, Linda Pitts of Gaithersburg, MD; half-sister, Nancy English (Bill) of Arlington, VA; stepsister, Wilma Jean Jones of Rockville, MD; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Rhema Christian Center, Fairlea, where Rev. Stewart Farley officiated. Visitation was before the service.

Burial was in the Bennett Place Cemetery, Clintonville. There was no graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rhema Christian Center for the International Missions Outreach in Haiti.
