Lewisburg – Verner E. McMillion Jr., 92, passed away early Thursday morning Feb. 8, 2018, at Greenbrier Manor in Fairlea.
Born Aug. 17, 1925, inTrout, he was a son of the late Verner Elster McMillion Sr. and Julia Theressa Burr McMillion.
Junior or “Mr. Mac” as he was known was a retired brick and stone mason in the area. After retirement, he helped his son-in-law at Shanklin Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs for several years. He was well liked and had many blessings with old and new friends. He was a very devoted Christian of the Protestant faith and loved singing the old hymns. He was a graduate of Williamsburg High School “Class of 1943” and a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Geraldine Christian McMillion; sister, Madora Elizabeth McMillion; and four brothers, Lacy (infant), Robert, Harold and Paul McMillion.
Surviving are his only child, Mary Jane Walkup and husband Zivo of Lewisburg; two sisters, Juanita Harvey of Elgood, and Norma Loudermilk of Christiansburg, VA; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.
There will be no visitation and graveside services will be private at Morningside Cemetery in Renick.
