Venison 101 will be presented on Saturday, February 3, at 2 p.m. at the Cecil Underwood Youth Building at the WV State Fair Grounds.
Venison 101 is a workshop presented by the WVU Extension Service; WVU Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design; and WV Department of Natural Resources.
Venison 101 will cover safe handling practices of venison; venison preparation from hoof to plate; different cuts of venison meat; recipes and tastings; venison preservation tips; deer health; native deer population; habitats; and more. This workshop is being held in partnership with the Greenbrier County 4-H Leaders Association’s 14th Annual 4-H Venison Contest, Bingo, and Live Auction.
The entries for the Venison Contest are due by 2 p.m. Bingo will start at 4 p.m., and the auction starts at 6 p.m. RSVP for this workshop or any of the other offerings that day by calling 304-647-7408.
