Carnegie Hall’s Brown Bag Tuesdays fall programming will conclude with a performance by the Carnegie Children’s Choir on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at noon. The Carnegie Children’s Choir is flourishing this year. Twenty-seven singers, age 9-14, rehearse every Tuesday from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Carnegie Hall Auditorium. Children from elementary and middle schools in both Greenbrier and Monroe counties work together under the guidance of Susan Adkins our executive director, who conducts of the choir. Heather Falls, our marketing director, is assisting with directing the choir while Leah Trent, our education director, continues to serve as administrator and accompanist.
In the fall of 2008, the Carnegie Children’s Choir was started to give children in public, private and home school settings an opportunity to sing in a community choir, to learn quality choral literature, to further develop their musical skills, and to learn proper performance and rehearsal etiquette. Membership in the choir also gives these children an opportunity to sing on the stage of Carnegie Hall, accompanied by the glorious sound of our nine-foot Steinway grand piano.
The following students are singing in the Carnegie Children’s Choir this fall: Bridgette Altizer, Kamon Anderson, Alexa and Ariana Angel, Joyce Bernardino, Bre Boswell, Kayla Buckmaster, Elyza Crane, Gabby Gessie, Ian Hamilton, Gracie Harbert, Kiah Hill, Kali Hudson, Abbi Judy, Rosie Ketchum, Jarett McHale, Maddie Mohler, Madi Neal, Makayla Neely, Lauren Quick, Angel Scott, Chris Scronce, Ryan Vaughan, Kayley Williams, Desi Wise, Kelsie Workman and Blaine Yates.
You are cordially invited to the Carnegie Children’s Choir holiday performance, which will be presented in the Hamilton Auditorium. Traditional holiday songs and unusual carols will be featured at this free concert.
Brown Bag Tuesdays is presented with financial assistance from the WV Division of Culture and Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the WV Commission on the Arts.
