Ronceverte-Gladys Tackett Porterfield. 83, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Greenbrier Manor in Fairlea.
Gladys was born Sept. 26, 1930, in Welch, the daughter of the late Sollie and Bertha Tackett.
Gladys was a member of the Ronceverte Baptist Church, was a former member of the Ronceverte Presbyterian Church Choir, former clerk at Dot’s Discount Store in Lewisburg and a former aide at Greenbrier Manor in Fairlea.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Claude Porterfield and Paul F. Jones.
Surviving are: her daughter, Lois J. Mooney of Cumberland, MD; sons, Randy Jones and wife Joyce of Mountlake, WA, Doug Jones and wife Kim of Virginia Beach, VA and Frank Jones and wife Joan, Missionary to Mexico; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren: aunt, Flora Riley of Harold, KY; and numerous cousins in Kentucky.
Graveside services for Gladys will be held Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at Morgan Cemetery near Ronceverte with Rev. Andy Howdock officiating.
In honoring her request there will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Ronceverte Baptist Church, Missionary Fund, 617 W. Main Street, Ronceverte, WV 24970.
