Alderson-Peggy Ann Vickers McCallister, 70, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at her home in Alderson, following a short illness.
Born July 8, 1943, in Summersville, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Reva Kathryn Bell Vickers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Glenn “TC” McCallister; and sister, Patricia Izora Vickers Boggess.
Mrs. McCallister grew up in Weston and attended Weston High School. She worked as a sectional supervisor at the Pence Springs Manufacturing Company, Pence Springs, and the Kellwood Company, Maxwelton, for many years. She was also a former employee of Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, and was a former cook and bartender at several local taverns over the years. She was of the Presbyterian faith and she loved to cook.
Survivors include: son, Richard Lee Martin, Jr. of Alderson; daughter, Deborah Lee Martin and husband Ken Kincaid, of Mooresville, NC; two step-daughters, Cara Martin Evans and husband Roger of Oak Hill and Holly McCallister of Charleston; two brothers, Jim Vickers of Weston and Michael Vickers of Washington, DC; granddaughter, Erica McMillion of White Sulphur Springs; great-grandson, Caleb McMillion of White Sulphur Springs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In honor of Mrs. McCallister’s wishes, following cremation, memorial services were held Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, where the Rev. Frank Jones officiated.
