Greenbrier East and West High Schools recently won awards in the fifth annual West Virginia State Marching Band Championship at the University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field on Saturday, Oct. 15.
Twenty-eight high school bands from around the state showcased their talents in the championship. The Hurricane Middle School Band and the West Virginia University Marching Band, “the Pride of West Virginia,” also performed.
Cabell Midland High School won the Overall “Honor Band” Award and Old Gold Division Grand Champion, and Poca High School won the Blue Division Grand Champion award.
Greenbrier East won second place in Class B Band, first place in Class B Music, second place in Class B Marching and second place in Class B General Effect.
Greenbrier West won second place in Class C Band, second place in Class C Music and first place in Class C Marching.
