Gigantic Fall Book Sale
On Friday, Oct. 7 beginning at 9 a.m. and ending Saturday, Oct. 8 at 3 p.m., the Friends of the Ronceverte Public Library will host their annual Book Sale at the Greenbrier Valley Mall. Twenty percent of the profits from this sale will be donated to the Rainelle Public Library. The remainder of the funds will be used for adult and children’s programming, materials and other needs of the Ronceverte Public Library.
Williamsburg Ruritans Pork
Tenderloin Dinner
The Williamsburg Ruritans will hold their annual Pork Tenderloin Dinner Saturday, Oct. 8, from 4-7 p.m. in the Williamsburg Community Building. The menu includes grilled pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, rolls, dessert and beverages. Cost for Dinner is: adults, $10; children 6-12, $5; children 5 and under, no charge. There will be raffle drawings for two Henry Rifles. Proceeds benefit Williamsburg community service projects.
Williamsburg Food Pantry Benefit
Join the fun to benefit The Williamsburg Food Pantry. Play 50/50 Bingo for .50 cents a card or three cards for $1 and enjoy hot dogs and homemade Barbecue on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 5-9 p.m. at the Williamsburg Community Center. Call 304-392-5537 for more information.
Lewisburg City Hall
will be closed Monday, Oct. 10, in observance of Columbus Day. Greenbrier Valley Solid Waste will operate on their normal schedule, picking up regular trash Monday through Friday.
Krazy Kloset Daze
Wellspring of Greenbrier’s annual women and teen girls Krazy Kloset Daze will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11 – Thursday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Wellspring of Greenbrier Inc., located beside Rupert City Hall at 624 Nicholas Street in Rupert. Items are free to low income families. Most sizes available. There will be shoes, bags, hats, gloves, and other accessories. Books, games, and fun stuff for women and teen girls will also be available. Wellspring of Greenbrier, Inc. is an all volunteer non-profit organization serving the working poor, homeless, and disadvantaged people of Greenbrier County since 2004.
Meet the Candidates
The Bozoo Ruritan Club will host a Meet Your Candidates, Ham and Bean Supper at the Bozoo Ruritan Community Center Saturday, Oct. 15, from 5-7 p.m. Cost: $6 adult, $4 children 6-12, free under 6.
OSHA training
New River Community and Technical College is offering OSHA 10-hour training Friday, Oct. 14 and 21, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Greenbrier Valley Campus Welding Lab, Lewisburg. OSHA 10-hour training is the primary method used to train workers on hazard recognition and OSHA safety standards. Students will receive an official OSHA 10-hour card (DOL Card) and an official OSHA Training Institute Education Center Certificate of Completion. Course topics include: introduction to safety standards, material handling, hand and power tools, scaffolds and stairways and ladders. Pre-registration for the course is required by Oct. 10. Benefit Spaghetti Dinner
A benefit spaghetti dinner will be held Friday, Oct. 21, from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ronceverte. Dinner includes spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and dessert and the price is a donation of your choice. Carry out is available. All proceeds are used to purchase Christmas presents for each Brier Nursing Home resident as well as items such as books, videos and crafts for them to enjoy. This annual fall dinner is sponsored and served by The Brier Advisory Board/Support Group, a volunteer group, and The Brier staff. A silent auction will be held.
Children’s Story & Craft Time
Come one, come all to the Children’s Story and Craft Time at the White Sulphur Springs Public Library. Does your child like a good story? How about hands-on arts and crafts fun followed by a tasty snack? Stop by the White Sulphur Springs Public Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and you’ll be sure to find both. Bluefield Princeton area Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Support Group
meets once a month, usually around the last Tuesday. The group is open to all who have MS and also family and friends. Medical students and such are welcome. There is no charge or fee to join.
