White Sulphur Springs-Sadie June McAllister, 78, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at the White Sulphur Springs Family Care Center, White Sulphur Springs, after an extended illness.
Born June 13, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Roy Telford and Edna Bostic Mentz.
Mrs. McAllister was a member of the Bethesda Temple of Praise and a homemaker. She enjoyed yard sales, flea markets and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by other family members including Robert, Telford, and Roy “Wink” Mentz, Mary Nicely, Glenna Pauley and Martha Mentz.
Survivors include: her husband of 59 years, Edward McAllister at home; four daughters, Andrea Brackenridge (Sherry) of Glen Allen, VA, Denise Clere (Wesley) of Louisville, KY, Julia Wiley of Rupert and Susie Hylton (Roger) of Salem, VA; son, David McAllister (Cindy) of New Castle, VA; and brother, Harvey Mentz of White Sulphur Springs. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 in the chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home with Rev. Don Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2013 at the funeral home.
