Historic Downtown Lewisburg celebrates First Fridays after Five on Friday, Sept. 2. Join everyone in downtown Lewisburg for live music, story-telling and tarot readings. All events are free to the public. Everyone is welcome.
Visit the city Green Space to enjoy live music by Pokey and the Hurry Ups, performing cover tunes of everyone from Fleetwood Mac, Radio Head, Merle Haggard to David Bowie.
The Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center welcomes a traveling exhibit, Robert C. Byrd: Senator, Statesman, West Virginian. The exhibit, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Senator Robert C. Byrd in 2017, is produced by the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History & Education at Shepherd University. The exhibit shares the story of the longest serving United States Senator: his early life and entrance into politics; his devotion to family and to West Virginia and her people; his public service and rise to leadership positions in the U.S. Senate; and the Senator’s role as defender of the U.S. Constitution. The exhibit features documents and photographs from the extensive Robert C. Byrd Congressional Papers Collection. The evening will feature light refreshments and special remarks by Congressmen Nick Rahall and Alan Mollohan at 6:30 p.m. (200 W. Washington Street 304-645-1000)
