White Sulphur Springs-Mykala Cheyanne Phillips, 14, was tragically swept away from her father and two brothers in the devastating flood on June 23, 2016.
The Celebration of Life for Mykala will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at Bethesda Church. Pastor Randy Gilliam (Mykala’s uncle) of White Sulphur Springs Baptist Church will officiate.
Mykala was born in Charleston, SC, on Feb. 22, 2002. Mykala was eager and excited to start high school at Greenbrier East in the fall. Mykala received Jesus Christ as her Saviour and was baptized this year at her church.
Mykala loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She especially loved children and animals of any sort. She was loved by everyone who met her and was beautiful inside and out. Mykala was and continues to be a blessing to many.
She is survived by her parents, James and Becky Phillips; brothers, Jayson Phillips and Carter Phillips of the home and Dalton Miller, USMC California; maternal grandmother, Donna Glass Kingsport of Tennessee; Aunt Della and Pastor Randy Gilliam of White Sulphur Springs; aunt Gertie Goforth, Johnson City, TN, uncle Robert and Debbie Tester, Sayre, PA and aunt Kaye and Calvin Rogers, Kingsport, TN. Mykala has several cousins whom she loved, Elizabeth and Dylan Pernod, White Sulphur Springs, John David and Makayla Dixon, Erwin, TN, and Beckka and Samuel Rogers, Kingsport, TN. Mykala had a special place in her heart for her two second cousins, Madeline and Addison Treadway, White Sulphur Springs. Makala also leaves behind her boyfriend and soul mate, Josh Morrison, White Sulphur Springs.
Mykala was preceded in death by her grandfather, Bill Carter and her grandparents, Walter and Katherine Phillips.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations for the family which lost everything in the flood, may be given to Della Gilliam, P.O. Box 277, White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986 or deposited to Premier Bank in care of: Della Gilliam for the Phillips Family. There has been a savings account set up for the family to use for housing.
