Twenty-five members of the Class of 2016 performed for the final time as members of the Spartan Marching Band, Greenbrier East Freshmen and Upperclassmen’s Concert Bands, or the Spartan Steel Drum Band at Greenbrier East High School’s annual spring concert.
Each of the bands performed during the Sunday afternoon concert where the graduating seniors were honored for their participation in the instrumental music program by James Allder, director of instrumental music at Greenbrier East High School.
Seniors honored include: Matthew Alderman, Rhiannon Allen, Nick Boiteau, Kaitlynn Brown, Halie Campbell, Noah Collins, Morgan Davidson, Lindsey Deskins, Casielle Donahue, Samantha Franks, Jeremy Giese, Izzi Jasperse, Corey Jones, Nick Judy, Jules Kessler, Melissa Lusk, Emily McClung, Jade Napier, Chloe Nelson, Madison Persinger, Summer Propps, Zoe Sampson, Neely Seams, Brandon Thacker and Carlton Wykle.
The Spartan Bands are supported financially by the Greenbrier County Board of Education and by the fund raising projects of the Greenbrier East Music Boosters.
According to Tammy Dotson Rhodes, president of the Boosters, several fund raising projects are scheduled for the summer months leading up to the Spartan Band Camp which is scheduled at the Greenbrier County Youth Camp for late July.
The Boosters recently received an in-kind donation of several cases of bottled water from the Maxwelton Ruritan Club for distribution during the students’ practices.
