TrilliumTrillium Performing Arts begins its fifth season in residence at The Lewis Theatre with their fall concert titled “Dance with Me.” Nov. 8 through 10, the area’s best creators of contemporary dance and movement theater invite the community to join in their exploration of themes varying from attachment to matriarchy. The concert will begin at 7:30 Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday. There will also be a meet the artists reception with food and wine in the Lewis Theatre lobby following the opening on Friday night.
“Dance with Me” features work by Trillium artists Samara Michaelson, Devin Preston and Jo Weisbrod with a unique collection of guest performances by The Van Dyke Dance Group from North Carolina, Emily Newton and The Greenbrier Academy for Girls Percussion Ensemble. “I love that Trillium uses such a diverse cast of dancers and actors rather than the typical professional dancer. When we watch people on the stage who come from all walks of life, we can feel ourselves up there with them. I want people to feel like they are dancing with us,” said Michaelson who is also the concert’s Artistic Coordinator.
Advanced tickets to the event are $13 for adults, $8 for students and will be available in office now through Thursday, Nov. 7 or online at mycommunityevents.com until midnight Wednesday, Nov. 6. Tickets the day of the event are $17 for adults and $12 for students. Military Veterans receive free admittance all weekend in honor of Veterans’ Day. The dress rehearsal will be at 7:30 Thursday night and will also be open to the public for the first time on a “pay what you can” basis. Donations are encouraged.
This program is presented with financial assistance from the WV Division of Culture and History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the WV Commission on the Arts and many generous sponsors from our community. As a member of the Greenbrier Valley Arts Community, Trillium Performing Arts Collective is a proud participant in celebrating Arts and Humanities Month.
