Organ Cave-Robert William Brooks “Bobby” “Dubby,” 60, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015 at his home.
Bobby was born in Pearisburg, VA on June 10, 1955, to Bertie Frazier Brooks and the late Roy Melvin Brooks, Sr. “Poodle” of Alderson.
He was a Private Second Class in the U.S. Army in Fort Knox, KY, for almost two years. Bobby loved to hunt and liked to repair lawn mowers. He was self-employed as a mechanic for 35 years. He was the owner of Scotty’s Tire in Ronceverte.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, brother Roger Lee Brooks and brother Roy Melvin Brooks, Jr. “Pete”; and mother-in-law, Marie Brooks.
Those who remain to honor his memory are: his wife of 33 years, Velette Brooks; son, Jeremy Brooks at home; mother, Bertie Brooks of Alderson; siblings, Randy Brooks and wife Karen of Peterstown, Ricky Brooks of Alderson, Gail McFall and husband Lowell of Alderson, Robin Swiger and husband John of Alderson, Darlene Zimmerman and husband Robert of Alderson, Russell Brooks and wife Lisa of Fairlea, Ruth Lephew and husband Richard of Pickaway, Rodney Brooks and wife Anna of Ronceverte, Ralph Brooks and girlfriend Frances Rheinscheld of Bluewell and Eva Waid and husband Rusty of Ronceverte; father-in-law, James Brooks of Organ Cave; sister-in-law, Cynthia May and husband Craig of Organ Cave; nephews, Cory and Anthony May and special great niece Emma May all of Organ Cave; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were: Anthony May, Les Howard, Randy Stanley, Troy Morgan, Mousie Massey and Jimmy White.
His funeral service was held on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg where Rev. James Kite officiated. Burial followed in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Fort Spring.
Visitation was Tuesday evening, Dec. 22, at the funeral home.
