In March 2016, students from the Greenbrier East High School French Honors Program will be traveling to France for a 13 day excursion through Paris, Lyon, and surrounding areas. They will be accompanied by their instructor, Madame Liz Daigle as well as parent chaperones. Not only will the students spend three days in Paris, but they will spend an entire week attending high school with their French peers. This immersion experience is intended to accelerate the students learning of the French language and culture.
In order to fund this exciting opportunity the students have been hard at work selling raffle tickets, boxed lunches, and having bake sales. They are now excited to announce “An Evening in Paris,” a dinner extravaganza prepared by renowned chef Frederic Monti, who is traveling to Lewisburg specifically for this event. With over 30 years of experience, Monti has worked for some of the top resorts and restaurants in the world. He served as executive pastry chef for the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta, GA, The Ritz-Carlton in Naples, FL, and The Greenbrier resort. Monti’s other previous experiences include positions as pastry chef at Brasserie Le Coze in Atlanta and Le Clos de la Violet in France, one star Michelin. He began his career at the age of 14 with a culinary apprenticeship in France.
The event will be held on the lower level of the Lewisburg Public Library on Friday, Aug. 28. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The event will offer valet parking and a silent auction featuring many exciting items and activities from the surrounding area. Appetizers, main course entrees, sides and desserts specially prepared by Chef Monti and his staff are included in the $89 per plate ticket price. Corporate table sponsorships are also available upon request.
Tickets are on sale now by contacting Tracy Monti at 304-610-6332 or emailing explorefrance@yahoo.com. The seating is limited to 100 guests and purchases must be made by Aug. 21. Donations are also greatly appreciated.
