State Senator Ron Miller (left) presents WV flag to Ronceverte Mayor Davis Smith

Greenbrier American Legion Post 26 of Ronceverte was very pleased to be a part of the presentation of a new West Virginia flag to the Ronceverte City Development Corporation on Sept. 13. The new West Virginia flag will fly high over the Clifford Armory/Ronceverte Recreational Center located on Edgar Ave in Ronceverte. The new flag replaces the previously tattered, worn and faded flag. Because this special year is the 150th birthday of West Virginia’s statehood, it is essential to honor our state by flying fresh, vividly colored state flags that reflect our proud heritage.
Greenbrier American Legion Post 26 of Ronceverte and the Ronceverte City Development Corporation are exceedingly appreciative to Senator Ron Miller for his tireless dedication and giving of his time to acquiring a new West Virginia State flag for the Armory. Senator Miller presented the new flag to Ronceverte City Mayor David Smith on Sept. 13. Among those present for the presentation were Sue Ella-Miano, Barbara Sweetwood, and Sharon Schaefer – Ronceverte City Development Corporation and Reba Mahler – Ronceverte City Development Corporation Administrator. Also present were Kathy King and Cathy Pittsenbarger from the 1st National Bank, as well as Rusty Byer, Ronceverte City Police Chief. The First National Bank has supported Greenbrier American Legion Post 26 of Ronceverte with other projects such as helping with funding for local young men so they may attend Mountaineer Boys State Camp. A big hand of applause goes out to Senator Miller for his tireless effort in acquiring the new West Virginia State flag for the Ronceverte City Development Corporation.
Greenbrier American Legion Post 26 of Ronceverte also thanks local Post 26 officers who were able to attend the presentation – Chaplain Lee Johnson, Adjutant Ralph McPeak and wife Carola, Financial Officer Bob Hayes and Commander Barbara Burdette.
