There is a local event in the area that has been going on for about eight years now that has seen thousands of teens come through and is looking forward to thousands more. It is called 5th Quarter.
5th Quarter is an event that takes place at First Baptist Church in Fairlea for all high school and middle school students immediately following every Greenbrier East high school home football game. The purpose of 5th Quarter is to give students a fun, safe environment to go to after the games to hang out and have a good time.
At each event the church supplies all you can eat pizza, cookies, brownies, chips and pop. There is an open gym for basketball, hitting around a volleyball, or throwing a football. There is a game room with pool, foosball, ping pong, air hockey, arcade games and more, as well as a room set up with tables of board games. The best part is that it is all free!
All high school and middle school students are welcome to come as soon as the game at East ends. 5th Quarter ends at midnight. Teens must sign in at the front door and have to sign out on the way out. Once they sign out they cannot come back in. There is a team of adult volunteers all over the place to make sure that it remains a fun and safe environment. Parents are welcome to come in and take a tour of the facilities if they would like to just to see what the event has to offer.
So any, and all, 6th through 12th grade students are welcome to come and see what 5th Quarter has to offer. Come on out and enjoy, just look for the big 5th Quarter sign.
