Barbara Shiley was hostess and Betty Jo McNeil was co-hostess to the Progressive CEOS when they met for their May meeting.
Patty Gray opened the meeting with her thought for the month: “On this day in 1927, Charles Lindbergh left New York for his non-stop flight to France.”
The meditations, “Granny’s Girl’ was given by Mary Liz Richmond.
Six members attended Achievement Day and the club received an award for Volunteer Hours (2,000 hours). Continuing Education Committee received 1st Place and Family Committee received Honorable Mention.
A list of needs for the Family Refuge Center was passed around. These are to be brought to the August meeting.
Mary Liz Richmond gave the Motivator Health Tip for May. This month it is Vitamin D which boosts calcium absorption, strengthens bones and reduces fracture risks in women age 50 and up. It is known as the sunshine vitamin.
Our project “Quilts for Kids” is on display in the Open Book window to recognize CEOS Day. If you go to the Greenbrier Valley Theatre, you will see it.
Barbara Shiley brought the traveling basket and passed it to Chris Gowings who will bring it back next month filled with goodies.
Energy Express items can still e collected and taken to the Extension Office by June 11.
Everyone was supposed to bring apple recipes and Patty Gray will compile them into a book for the July meeting at her house.
There will be a planning meeting on Monday, July 13 at the Rupert Library at 10 a.m.
Kaye Davis, extension agent, gave a very interesting and informative program about Libya.
