Refrigeration Recycling LLC is pleased to announce the completion of the first phase of refrigeration installation at the Green Grocer in Alderson. The project in the picturesque river town is a multipurpose initiative lead by the Alderson Community Food Hub, an organization which strives to “…provide access to nutritious food, to foster community participation, and to cultivate an awareness of sustainable food systems in the Greenbrier Valley.”
“Refrigeration Recycling became involved in the Green Grocer project because as a recycling company we strongly support sustainability projects in our service area,” says Michael Monte of the company. “This is a very important program for Alderson, local area farmers, and Greenbrier Countians in general.” “We are hoping that the project will actually draw individuals from the surrounding area and act as an ongoing economic development engine for Alderson” states Gregg Wingo of Refrigeration Recycling, “I have been a lifetime visitor to the community of Alderson. In my childhood, I had the pleasure of exploring the city with my cousins while visiting my Aunt Charlotte, attending the annual Fourth of July celebrations, and learning to sing both liturgical and secular music under the late Mrs. Fife’s tutelage. Alderson holds a special place in my own and many Greenbrier Valley residents’ hearts.”
The Green Grocer is now open on Tuesday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. with friendly service, and fresh, organic, and processed foods. Located at the corner of WV Routes 63 and 12, it also includes a café and deli operated by Billy and Dawn Painter of Burnout Pit BBQ fame. All day Friday, Apr. 24, will be the Grand Opening of The Green Grocer and Sunnyside Café and Deli. The evening will feature the music of Ben Gilmer and the Sidearms, an Appalachian alt-Americana band, beginning at 7:30 p.m. as part of a general business open house in Alderson with events on both Friday evening and Saturday.
