One of the men involved in the New Year’s Day shooting of two Lewisburg police officers has committed suicide in North Carolina.
Edward Campbell, the elder of the father-son duo who fired on Lewisburg police officers, was found unresponsive in his North Carolina prison cell last Tuesday, according to an official with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.
Edward Campbell and his son Eric Campbell were extradited to North Carolina last month in order to face charges related to the murder of North Carolina couple Jerome and Doris Faulkner. The Faulkners’ bodies were discovered in the vehicle Edward Campbell was driving at the time of the Lewisburg shooting incident.
The shooting, and the Campbells’ subsequent arrests, ended a multi-state crime spree that began in Texas.
