The Greenbrier County Airport Authority held its regular monthly meeting on Sept. 10, at the Greenbrier Valley Airport.
After the Authority’s approval of the minutes from the August meeting, CFO Martha Livesay delivered the Financial Report. Livesay gave an overview of the airport’s finances, detailing account balances, funding, grants and loans. Livesay reported the airport concluded the month of August with a surplus, adding over $45,000. The GCAA continues to operate from a strong financial position.
Jon McCalmont, representing the consulting and engineering firm, Parrish & Partners, provided information related to ongoing projects at the airport. McCalmont advised the design phase for the taxiway design and rehab project is now underway. McCalmont also said the acquisition of a Snow Removal Equipment Loader (SRE) is in the works, pending the receipt of a grant that has been awarded. The SRE loader will reduce the airport’s expense for clearing snow, ice and debris from the runway, taxiway, and apron.
There was some discussion about the upcoming project to expand the terminal. McCalmont advised the TSA will have some input related to the design. One goal of the project will be to increase the passenger capacity and amenities of the “sterile area,”, which is the area passengers wait to board their flight after passing through security. That project is slated to begin in 2027.
