Perry Kenneth “Ken” Proffitt, 83, of Alderson, passed away on Sept. 10, 2026, after a long illness. He was born on Nov. 7, 1942, in Lockland, Ohio, a son of the late James Perry Proffitt and Matilda (Brock) Proffitt.
Ken lived a full life shaped by hard work, loyalty, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He earned an associate’s degree and went on to work for Avon as a mechanic, where he gave many years of steady service. After 30 years, he and his wife, Patty Ann (Groves) Proffitt, retired to West Virginia, a place they both dearly loved. He was a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church and the Sharonville, Ohio Masonic Lodge No. 204 F. & A.M., and a 32° member of the Beni Kedem Shrine.
Ken was a man who valued simple things and took pleasure in them fully. He loved West Virginia and the outdoors, and he found joy in hunting and fishing. He was also known for telling great stories, the kind that held attention and were remembered long after they were told. Those who knew him will remember his warm presence and the easy way he shared his time and his stories with others.
Family was an important part of Ken’s life. He is survived by his wife, Patty Ann (Groves) Proffitt of Alderson; his son, Robert J. Reece; and his grandchildren, Sebastian E. Reece, Nichole Reece Biris, and Sarah Ann Reece, all of Florida. His family will carry forward his memory with love and gratitude for the life he lived and the example he set.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Orville Proffitt and James Avery Proffitt; his sisters, Edrie Proffitt, Loretta Rolman and Audrey Farmer.

In accordance with his wishes, Ken will be cremated with no service, and Lobban Funeral Home is entrusted with assisting the family with the arrangements.
