The 5th annual West Virginia Wrestling Dual Team State Championship will be held on Feb. 2 and 3 at the West Virginia State Fairgrounds in Fairlea. The top teams from every region in the state wrestled qualifying matches to be in the State Championship, ensuring we get the very best team to compete for West Virginia Dual Team State Champion– the first WV State Scholastic Championship to be held in WV each year.
Once again the tournament will consist of the top eight teams from both AAA and AA in each region. Teams who have qualified thus far are:
AAA – Parkersburg South High School, Ripley High School, Greenbrier East High School, Spring Mills High School, and Musselman High School.
AA – Point Pleasant High School, Fairmont Senior High School, Oak Glen High School, and Williamstown High School.
This event is endorsed by WVSSAC and sponsored by the West Virginia Wrestling Coaches Association, and is the premier Dual Team Championship in the State of West Virginia. Over 300 West Virginia High School wrestlers will be competing, and over 1,000 spectators and fans from across the state to visit Greenbrier County for this two-day Championship event. Previous Dual Team State Championship participants have included individual state champions, High School All-Americans, Academic All-Americans, future college All-Americans, and Wrestling Hall of Fame Coaches.
