Women’s Night Out delayed to make room for flood fundraising

For the past seven years, the Family Refuge Center has held their signature fundraiser, Women’s Night Out, in the fall. However, this year, Family Refuge Center’s board and staff has decided to postpone this momentous event.

Kenosha Davenport, executive director, states that “Family Refuge Center recognizes the impact that the June flood had on this area. As a result, I and FRC’s board of directors thought it would be best to temporarily postpone their signature fundraiser, Women’s Night Out, so that much needed fundraising activities for flood victims would not be stifled by their fundraising efforts.” Davenport is from Alabama and is no stranger to natural disasters; she states that the recovery phase for such events can be long lasting.

While the signature event has been temporarily postponed, Family Refuge Center is very optimistic about the upcoming event. They have secured a host and home for this night of “food, fun, and philanthropy.” Davenport asks that the community “Save the Date” for Women’s Night Out to take place on Apr. 29, 2017. Tickets will go on sale in February. Soon, Save the Date postcards will go out in the mail.

To have your address added to the mailing list, call FRC at 304-645-6324 or send an email to WNO@familyrefugecenter.org. There will be opportunities for community businesses to purchase sponsorships or provide auction items. Davenport hopes to exceed their 2015 fundraising goal of $30,000.

For more information about FRC or Women’s Night Out, contact Kenosha Davenport at 304-645-6324.
