The women of the Henning Church of God met May 9 in the church fellowship hall for their monthly meeting. Everyone brought a snack for this meeting. President Carole Spencer presided. Marty Burns led in prayer.
Donna Scott gave the devotion,”What does Memorial Day Mean?” with scripture reference to Hebrews 11: 4-11 & 20-26. She said this is a day to remember soldiers. The first one was observed May 30, 1868. In 2000, the national moment to remember and a moment of silence was observed at 3 p.m. local time. We should never take freedom for granted. God remembers his faithful and fallen. If it is important for God to remember, then it is important for us to remember. God enjoys us and is always loving and rejoicing over us. God is always with us.
Bonnie Dodrill and Joan Vance, missionary education leaders, confirmed that the ladies will host a Lemonade and Lace Luncheon Saturday, May 13. There will be vendors, a free craft table for children and free refreshments. Jamie Harvey gave the Treasurer’s Report and Pauline Perkins read last month’s Minutes. The group reported sending 153 cards, making 26 visits and 53 phone calls.
The yard sale on May 6 was very successful and members were thanked for their participation. The group was reminded about the upcoming bean dinner to be held Monday, June 5 at 6 p.m.
