The Ladies of the Henning Church of God met on Tuesday, Feb. 8, in the church fellowship hall for their monthly meeting. Carole Spencer presided and Marty Burns led in prayer.
Dyan Hefner brought the devotion. It is always good to remember that the tea kettle was in hot water but continued to sing. A man was lost in the country and saw a barn in the distance. The barn contained seeds that Satan will sow. The man encountered a demon and wondered why there were so many of this one seed. The seeds of discouragement are effective and grow easily, however, they do not grow easily in a grateful heart. (I Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Kim Brookman brought the missionary education report written by missionary Peter White, “Twelve Ways to Live Like a Missionary in Your Neighborhood.” Prayer is the most important and should be constant. Become immersed in the story of scripture because God continues to act in the same way now as in the Bible. Love and get to know your neighbors. Be a native. (John 1:14) Jesus became a human being. Have a value margin by anticipating interruptions and carve out a space for worship. Cultivate the fruits of the spirit. Live to bless others. (Genesis 2:11) Be a good listener. Resist to divide between sacred and secular. Trust that God is always at work. Be a host by opening up spaces for neighbors and don’t be afraid to be a guest.
Pauline read the minutes from the December meeting since the group did not meet in January.
Carole thanked the group for bringing items for the Family Refuge Center. The group decided to make no changes to the previously elected members and they will remain the same. The ladies will be serving the Maxwelton Ruritans on February 24. The group will have an indoor yard sale on Saturday, March 12. The items have been donated to the group by a family member of the church that has moved. The group will sell chili, potato soup, corn bread and baked goods.
The next meeting will be held Mar. 8. Barb Seldomridge dismissed in prayer.
Attending were Alice Coff, Angie Scott, Barb Seldomridge, Carole Spencer, Cindy Fleshman, Donna Scott, Dyan Hefner, Jamie Harvey, Kim Brookman, Marty Burns, Pauline Perkins, and Patty Owens.
