White Sulphur Springs-William Sanford Kelly, Sr., 81, passed away at home on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, after a long illness.
Born in White Sulphur Springs, on Sept. 2, 1940, he was the son of the late Samuel and Nellie Waggoner Kelly.
After graduating from White Sulphur Springs High School, he attended the National School of Aeronautics Inc. He worked at The Greenbrier Hotel as a Security Guard prior to working at Westvaco in Covington, VA, where he retired after 36 years. While working there he also graduated from Dabney Lancaster College. Bill pastored at several area churches. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, deer hunting, golfing, listening to music and most of all, talking about the Lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Broyles Kelly; son, Billy “Cookie” Kelly; and sister, Rose Kelly Wright.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma McMillion Kelly; daughter, Kathy Callison (Mike); daughter-in-law, Samantha Kelly, all of White Sulphur Springs; stepson, Neil McMillion (Tina) of Harvest, AL; sister, Shirley MacCartney (Wayne) of Irvine, CA; brother, John Kelly and special friend Patty Lovell of White Sulphur Springs; brother-in-law, Marshall Forren (Sue) of Louisa, VA and Kennith Broyles (Barbara) of Durham, NC; step-grandchildren, Eli and Sam Peppers, Cody Burgess (Lisa), Randall Burgess (Morgan), and Chris Boggs; several step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg, where pastors A.C. Hollins, Lloyd Camp and John Kelly officiated. Burial followed in the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg.
Visitation was Monday evening, Feb. 14, at the funeral home.
The family asks for donations of sympathy be made in lieu of flowers to the Peyton Hospice House, 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901. The family thanks Allyson Ferguson and the Hospice team for their care.
