The annual holiday concert by the West Virginia Jazz Orchestra is a favorite among people from Greenbrier County and beyond. Audience members will be entertained by a mix of musical styles from Big Band Swing, to mainstream Jazz, to Motown, to ‘80s classic rock. Bryant says half the concert will be devoted to traditional Christmas music, with the other half devoted to music the WVJO has recently added to its repertoire, including many more contemporary pieces. The audience can expect anything from the ‘60s through the ‘90s.
The West Virginia Jazz Orchestra has been together for 11 years and this will be their 11th such holiday concert at GVT. “We originally thought it would stay together for one concert, here we are 11 years later,” Bryant says. They perform locally and throughout the state and have played with numerous jazz greats, including Ellis Marsalis, Jr.
