On Saturday, Oct. 8, at Greenbrier West High School in Charmco, five teams from the Coalfield Conference in Single A participated in the conference championship in volleyball. Schools representing were Meadow Bridge, Richwood, Fayetteville, Summers County and Greenbrier West.
Play started at 10 a.m. and went into the early evening with the championship round pitting GWHS against longtime rival Fayetteville. West won in two straight sets and was crowned the 2016 Coalfield Conference champions.
