The Greenbrier Watershed Association will be showing the documentary film “Medicine of the Wolf” by Pocahontas County native Julia Huffman at the Lewis Theater on Saturday, June 18, at 7 p.m. followed by music by the Nightcrawlers band with special guest Dave McCormick. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Several Lewisburg locations are selling tickets: Edith’s Store, Harmony Ridge Gallery, and Plants Etc. Also, people may obtain advance tickets by calling GRWA at 304-647-4792 and leaving a message.
In this beautiful and important documentary, filmmaker Julia Huffman travels to Minnesota and into wolf country to pursue the deep intrinsic value of perhaps the most unjustly maligned animal on the face of the planet. “Medicine of the Wolf” centers on the remarkable, world-renowned environmentalist and National Geographic photographer Jim Brandenburg, who has photographed, studied and been on the ground with wolves for 45 years – longer than anyone in history. As our guide, Brandenburg enables us to see the world of the wolf as we have never seen it before.
Dave McCormick is a well known singer/songwriter who has opened for Merle Haggard and The Steve Miller Band. The Nightcrawlers include members of the Red Star Rockets, a long time favorite in Southern West Virginia. Don and Tracy Rush Steck, Bob Gibb and Dale England round out the Nightcrawlers. Their take on blues and rock and roll will have you dancing the night away.
