The 2016 Greenbrier Classic will be held July 4 through July 10 on The Old White TPC Course at The Greenbrier, and the PGA Tour FedEXCup event is looking for volunteers.
More than 1,400 volunteers are needed to make the award-winning tournament go, and the perks of volunteering make the opportunity one that can’t be missed.
For a cost of $85, volunteers will receive an official tournament golf shirt, an official tournament outerwear piece, an official tournament hat or visor, a credential allowing access to the tournament all seven days, a Greenbrier Classic commemorative volunteer pin, a meal voucher for every shift worked and a voucher for 10 percent off Greenbrier Classic merchandise. The overall package is valued at more than $500.
In addition, volunteers can receive discounted stays at The Greenbrier and free rounds of golf on the resort’s legendary courses, depending on the number of shifts worked.
Joining the team of volunteers provides the rare opportunity to see PGA Tour stars like Bubba Watson and John Daly from a unique prospective.
The volunteer program is open to anyone 13 years of age or older, with youth age 13 through 15 eligible for the Junior Volunteer program. Volunteer positions are available in everything from laser operators to grounds marshals, standard bearers, supply distribution, caddie services, player transportation, information ambassadors, merchandise and more.
“It takes a lot of puzzle pieces coming together to make The Greenbrier Classic one of the most anticipated stops on the PGA Tour,” said Monte Ortel, executive tournament director, The Greenbrier Classic. “But nothing is more important than our volunteers. Every year, I’m amazed with how much they do to make The Greenbrier Classic such a huge success.”
