On Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11, a new veterans’ memorial was unveiled.
The memorial was designed by Bobby White, secretary and treasurer of the Vietnam Veterans of America Eastern Highlands Chapter #1072. Three flags fly over the memorial: the state flag, the American flag and the POW-MIA flag.
Currently, only one of the six granite walls flanking the memorial are engraved with names of area individuals who lost their lives at war. However, the VVA chapter is accepting requests for names to be added. To make a request, contact a VVA chapter member. (Sarah Mansheim photo)
