The much anticipated USDVA medical clinic is now open on Davis Stuart Road in Fairlea. Albeit a temporary facility, 3600 square feet of space is providing primary care, mental health care, laboratory testing and with a home-based primary care team in place.
“We had a tremendous amount of interest at the open house on Tuesday,” said Public Affairs Officer of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA) Debbie Voloski. “I am heartened by the response of the veterans who showed up and expressed their appreciation for the new care facility,” Voloski added.
Since the closing of the VA clinic in Maxwelton last spring, veterans have had to use the Beckley VA clinic.
The clinic opened for appointments on Wednesday. Clinic hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
A permanent clinic is expected to be complete and open nearby at 228 Shamrock Lane in Fairlea by the end of summer (Note: the clinic mailing addresses are listed as Lewisburg).
