West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) announces that US 219 South will be closing, near the State Fairgrounds in Fairlea, according to Greg Hylton, district nine construction engineer.
This section of roadway will close Tuesday, May 19, at 10 a.m. and is scheduled to reopen Wednesday, July 15, at 5 p.m. Traffic will be directed around the project using a newly constructed detour running parallel to US 219 South through the Fairgrounds Free Parking Lot.
WVDOH expresses their apologies for the inconvenience this may cause the citizens and guests to the area. The detour is necessary for installation of the West Virginia State Fair Pedestrian Underpass.
Motorists are asked to observe all traffic control signs and devices and use caution while traveling through the work zone. Delays are expected; therefore, motorists should allow additional time for their commute or seek alternate routes.
The anticipated completion date for this project is July 15. However, inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
