On Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m., Elise Keaton with the Greenbrier River Watershed Association will provide an update on two proposed natural gas pipelines expected to impact Greenbrier County residents. The meeting will take place at the Lewis Theater in Lewisburg.
At the Jan. 6 meeting, lawyers from Appalachian Mountain Advocates will also be there to discuss landowner rights and answer questions from concerned community members regarding legal issues related to the proposed pipelines.
EQT and NextEra Gas have “pre-filed” with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for plans to construct the Mountain Valley Pipeline which would originate in Wetzel County and would cut through Nicholas, Greenbrier, Summers and Monroe Counties. A second proposed pipeline, the Appalachian Connector, may also follow a similar proposed route.
We encourage community members to join us for this meeting to learn more about the proposed pipelines, landowner options and how other communities are coming together in response. For more information, please contact Elise Keaton elise@greenbrier.org 304-647-4792.
