The United Way of Greenbrier Valley is known for supporting communities in times of emergency, including during natural disasters. While our community wasn’t directly impacted by Hurricanes Helene or Milton, we know our community does better when all communities thrive. That’s why we will continue to support the United Ways in impacted communities, both now and in the long-term, as they rebuild.
On Saturday, Nov. 2, the United Way Worldwide network, that we’re a proud part of, will host the nationally televised United Way Benefit for Hurricane Relief™. The event, which includes performances from Brittney Spencer, Chris Janson, Clay Aiken, Jonathan McReynolds and Tyler Hubbard, with special messages and appearances by the Backstreet Boys, Billy Bob Thornton, Billy Burke, Blake Shelton, Carly Pearce, Cedric The Entertainer, Cody Alan, Jackson Dean, JB SMOOVE, Kelsea Ballerini, Max Thieriot, Nate Burleson, Stephen Colbert, Taye Diggs, and Zac Brown Band will air on CBS and CMT at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The goal of the event is to raise critical funds to help those impacted by the storms and support the long-term recovery and rebuilding in response to the estimated $50 billion in damages.
We’re delighted to be part of this event and wanted to make sure that you and your audience are aware. “In times of crisis, United Way mobilizes the caring power of communities to help people in need,” declares Angela F. Williams, president and CEO of the United Way Worldwide. Williams adds, “The United Way Benefit for Hurricane Relief is an opportunity to unite people to help the individuals and families impacted by the devastating hurricanes. Because united is the way to create long-term and lasting resiliency for individuals, families and communities.”
