On Friday, Feb. 28, two men were brought before Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Dent after being detained outside of Lewisburg on multiple outstanding felony charges originating from Maricopa County, AZ.
Matthew Stephen Anderson and Steven Joseph Lojek each have four felony charges pending from crimes allegedly committed in AZ on Feb. 17. Each man is charged with first degree murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and tampering with physical evidence.
In court, they both contested their extradition back to AZ, and Judge Dent determined they will be held in Southern Regional Jail without bond until further court proceedings.
Prosecuting Attorney Patrick Via, who is representing the State in both cases, said, “Both of the individuals in custody determined not to waive extradition, and have requested that the extradition process proceed. In order to do that, a Governor’s warrant has to be issued, and there will be a further hearing on this case in the future for the purpose of the extradition itself.”
