The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department has announced that two men were killed in a car accident on Springdale Road near Dawson early Monday morning.
According to the report, Derek M. Fitzwater, 19, of South Charleston, and Danny R. Fitzwater, 43, of Alderson were travelling southbound on Springdale Road near 1 a.m. when their vehicle traveled off the shoulder of the road and hit a tree. The younger Fitzwater was driving, the report said.
Two other passengers, Dustin E. Bryant, 23, of Lewisburg and Chad M. Fox, 21, of Ronceverte were flown to Charleston Area Medical Center and Roanoke Memorial Hospital, for treatment of their injuries.
None of the men was wearing seat belts, the report said.
Sgt. J.J. Martin is the investigating officer, assisted by Sgt. G.R. Workman, Deputy Alex Workman, Deputy James DeSimone and J.W. Gilkeson of the West Virginia State Police.
Clintonville and Smoot fire departments and Quinwood and Alderson Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene.
