The Greenbrier Valley Off-Road Biking Association will be holding a trail maintenance day in conjunction with their launch party on Sunday, Apr. 7, starting at 1 p.m. in the Greenbrier State Forest. We will begin constructing a new trail that will become part of the Figure 8 system already in place. This additional trail is being created to increase the inventory of beginner trails in the state forest.
- The Greenbrier State Forest requires volunteers working in the forest to complete volunteer forms. We will have those available on Apr. 7 for all volunteers to complete.
- Equipment to bring if you are able: hard rakes, pruners, hand saws and weed eaters.
- This is not a NICA-sanctioned event. This trail work day is intended for adult members of GVORBA or any adult wishing to help improve our local trails. High-school-age youth may participate, but this work will not be appropriate for younger kids.
- Bring plenty of water to drink. We also recommend wearing long pants, long sleeves and gloves given the materials and foliage we will be working in.
