There might not be snow outside your window at the moment, yet several ski resorts in West Virginia had soft openings recently with the luck of cold temperatures working well with snowmaking machines.
Winterplace Ski Resort in Flat Top, West Virginia enjoyed its soft opening recently, and is officially kicking off ski season on December 12.
Ski resorts are no longer only about skiing; the sport of snowboarding and the fun of snow tubing are also a large part of the fun available at each resort.
Executive Vice President of Winterplace Tom Wagner shares his excitement about this year saying, “We are off to a great start with a better base earlier than ever before, thanks to those great temperatures recently.”
In celebration of the good fortune, and as an invite to get families with children excited along with Winterplace, now through December 19, anyone 12 years of age or younger can get a free ski lift ticket and use it all day at the resort.
Wagner is also proud to announce that Winterplace was recently named by Blue Ridge Outdoor Magazine as the best place in West Virginia to learn how to ski and snowboard.
Call your local visitors centers to find the ski resort for you. Other resorts in West Virginia include Snowshoe, Pipestem, Timberline and Canaan Valley, and they all have very informative websites with current hours of operation, schedules of events and lessons, along with all of the offerings individual to them, such as eateries and accommodations.
