Lewisburg Rotarians passed the hat, and collected enough money to buy two shelter boxes for disaster relief in the Philippines.
The shelter boxes cost $1,000 each, and will provide essential emergency shelter and living needs for eight people per shelter box. Tents, water, cook-stoves and blankets are a part of the box.
According to club president, Paul Grist, the shelter boxes are certainly meant to be very temporary and shelter only eight people. In reality, many more people will be forced to share the tents, and will do so for many months or years out of necessity.
