The bonds of bigotry enslave us all.
When we seek to belittle our fellow man
we only diminish ourselves.
When we build a wall to shut him out
we trap ourselves within.
When we deride and degrade him
for how he worships or who he loves
or the color of his skin
we leave an indelible stain on our own.
When we question his worthiness
we cast doubt on our own.
When we disregard his rights
we jeopardize our own.
And if his life does not matter,
then neither does our own.
And if we will not speak for him
who then will speak for us?
