Newsweek has announced that The Greenbrier, America’s Resort, has once again been voted Best Historical Hotel in the 2025 Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards, securing the top spot for the second consecutive year.
The Greenbrier was one of 15 finalists selected by a panel of travel experts and Newsweek editors earlier this summer. Readers then had the opportunity to cast daily votes throughout the contest, culminating in today’s release of the top 10 list – with The Greenbrier once again standing above the rest.
“We are extremely proud of our unmatched history and grateful for all those who love it as much as we do for their votes to put us on top,” said Jill Justice, D.O., President of The Greenbrier. “We work every day to honor that legacy and ensure we live up to the standard that has been set for this property for centuries.”
Founded in 1778, The Greenbrier’s story is woven into the fabric of American history. From its earliest days as a destination where visitors came to “take the waters” of the natural mineral springs, to hosting presidents and world leaders, serving as an Army hospital during World War II, housing a Cold War-era secret bunker and welcoming countless sporting events and cultural icons, The Greenbrier’s legacy is unparalleled.
Today, guests can immerse themselves in this history through daily history tours, exclusive bunker tours, the Presidents’ Cottage Museum and the History Corridor, among other unique experiences that celebrate the resort’s extraordinary past.
