Terrie Grimmett, 69, of White Sulphur Springs (formerly of Rainelle) went to her heavenly home on Jan. 24, 2025. Although her presence here will be profoundly missed, Terrie’s loved ones celebrate her glorious reunion with her mother Dorothy, mother-in-love Camilla, infant sister Donna, and all the other dear loved ones who met her at the pearly gates.
Terrie was the daughter of Glen and the late Dorothy Hunter of Crawley, and a graduate of the Greenbrier West High School Class of 1973. She had a servant’s heart and a deep love for children. In 2017, she retired from Greenbrier County Schools after working for many years as a school secretary. She faithfully attended Sewell Valley Baptist Church for over 40 years, during which time she served as a Sunday school teacher, nursery worker, and choir member. Most recently, she attended Grace Baptist Church in White Sulphur Springs.
To know Terrie was to know goodness embodied. She was kind to everyone, her laughter was infectious, and her faith was unwavering. Terrie poured all her love and energy into serving her family. She enjoyed camping with friends, winning games of Rook with her best friend Cheryl Altizer, daily after-dinner walks with her sister-in-love Gina Grimmett (although her favorite cardio was shopping), and she never met a dessert she didn’t like. Her proudest accomplishment was raising her two daughters and being promoted to MeMe.
A faithful wife, devoted mother, and adoring MeMe, Terrie leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Barry, who honored his “in sickness and in health” vow until death they did part; two daughters, Stephanie (Jared) Worley of Bluffton, SC, and Brittany (Jeremy) Radford of White Sulphur Springs; and five grandchildren, Charlee and Cash Worley and Kendal, Kadence, and Paxton Radford. She is also survived by her father Glen Hunter; two brothers, Michael and David; and two sisters, Teresa Shuck and Tonia Hunter.
In the final weeks of her life, Terrie received exceptional care from her hospice team. The family would like to thank nurse Sheila for her weeks of in-home care as well as Peyton Hospice House nurse Kim and CNA Morgan for the compassion shown during Terrie’s passing. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Terrie’s memory with a donation to Peyton Hospice House,1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
A service officiated by Pastor and brother-in-love Youel Altizer will be held at Sewell Valley Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, with visitation prior beginning at noon. Please join Terrie’s family and friends in celebrating a life well lived.
