On Wednesday, Sept. 3, shortly after midnight, deputies with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance at a residence on Morgan Cemetery Road just South of Ronceverte.

Upon arrival they observed a male subject attempting to leave the area in a white SUV. Deputies attempted to stop the male subject. The subject initially stopped and appeared to be cooperative but refused to exit the vehicle. When deputies attempted to remove the subject, he put the car in gear and sped off.

One deputy pursued the vehicle while the other deputy remained on scene to assess the situation. The deputy on scene found a severely injured male partially under a camper on the property and the deputy radioed for EMS.

Upon further investigation the deputy saw an open door to the residence. Upon approach, he noticed an adult female in a bed that appeared to be severely injured. The deputy checked on the female and found her to be deceased.

The deputy pursuing the subject in the white SUV was assisted by Lewisburg PD, Ronceverte PD, and White Sulphur PD. They were able to get the subject stopped at the Shell Station located on Rt. 219 in Fairlea.

After a taser deployment and a brief struggle the subject was taken into custody. The subject was identified as Michael E. Loudermilk, Jr., 42, of Greenbrier County. Loudermilk was taken into custody and is charged with murder and several other charges.

The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Team deployed to the crime scene and spent long hours gathering evidence and reconstructing the scene. The team also executed search warrants on the suspect’s vehicle and home to gather further evidence.

The deceased was identified as Quailynn Bass, 36, of Florida. The cause of death appears to be blunt force trauma. However, an official ruling will have to come from the medical examiner’s office.

The injured male was identified as Brian Loudermilk, 52, of Greenbrier County. He is currently receiving medical care at a trauma center. His injuries also appeared to have been caused by blunt force trauma.

The investigation is still ongoing and further details will be released upon completion of the investigation. Deputy B. Walls is the lead investigator.

Sheriff Baker would like to thank Lewisburg, Ronceverte, and White Sulphur Springs Police Departments for their assistance. Sheriff Baker would also like to commend his deputies on their hard work, and quick actions to prevent the suspect from being able to get away, preventing further danger to the public.
