Dear Citizens:
I wanted to write a letter to you regarding the upcoming election. Councilmember Sarah Elkins, Councilmember John Little and myself are very happy to be running for re-election. We know that when there is no opposition in an election that there isn’t much interest in voting. However, not only are we on the ballot, our Levy is on there as well.
We need your support for the Levy to continue. This has been the same Levy you have supported every five years for as long as I can remember. This Levy supports our Police, Fire, and Streets. It’s income that we need to supplement our budget. The rates have not changed in any way and that is one of the reasons this Levy has passed each time there has been an election to ask for your continued support. We need your support in this election cycle as well. You are the reason the City is doing so well. You are the reason people love it here. It’s because all of you shine and show your pride in a City that is proud to call you her Citizens.
We know people are asking “where are the signs for the election?” We, as the Citizens Party Candidates chose not to fund raise for an unopposed election. We felt it would not be fair to you our citizens. We truly want to serve you again to the best of our abilities.
We are proud of the work that we have done these past four years. The biggest accomplishment was acquiring the funds for the Water Treatment Plant in the amount of $64.3 million. We finished the sidewalks going 219 North and South. We now have six beautiful Pickleball Courts with the help of citizens who believe in Lewisburg as a thriving community. Our parks have been enhanced with the use of the Cares Act reimbursement funds. City Hall was renovated inside and out after almost 20 years. We have some of the most talented employees who have saved the City money by doing much of the construction work that was needed in our parks.
We welcomed ASCEND Greenbrier Valley to come live, work, and play. They have family members who have moved here since then also.
We acquired land to build our new firehouse which was another 10-year project in the works.
We have 14 Police Officers who dedicate their lives for each of you. We have a Fire Department who is always there if you need them.
I am blessed to call Lewisburg my home. It has been my honor to serve you. You continue to show your love for the City as well.
Please come out and vote especially for our Levy. We want to continue to serve you in the best way possible. Early voting is open until Saturday, June 10. Election Day is June 13!!!
Sincerely,
Mayor Beverly White
